Arriving in Toyama today, make a stop at The Suiboku Museum, Toyama, to admire its Japanese ink paintings before heading into the city. Spend the afternoon and evening cherry blossom-viewing at the Toyama Castle Park, a reconstructed castle and garden, and the neighbouring Matsukawa River, a 3km riverbank lined with 500 cherry trees. Both just a short walk from your accommodation, enjoy the blooming flowers at the city’s top flower spots both in daylight and illuminated at night.

See the impressive glass artworks at the Toyama Glass Art Museum before heading out of the city for more cherry blossom viewing at Takaoka Castle Park, a top cherry blossom spot with around 1,800 cherry trees of 18 varieties located on the site of castle ruins.

Afterwards, take a coastal drive up the scenic Amaharashi Coast which borders one of the most beautiful bays in the world, Toyama Bay. If the weather is kind, you can catch a stunning view of the characteristic coastline, bay and Tateyama mountain range beyond. Try some fresh seafood caught from the bay at Himi Banyagai, and take a stroll around Uchikawa, a peaceful riverside town nicknamed the ‘Venice of Japan’ for its rustic atmosphere and waterway spanned by 12 unique bridges.

Toyama – Kanazawa

Drop by Nousaku, a top manufacturer of metal cast products, to pick up some stylish tableware, accessories, and other quality metal souvenirs. Then travel further to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Shirakawago, a Japan bucket-list locale known for its unique straw-roofed houses made without nails and spectacular scenery surrounded by the Japan Alps. Arriving into Kanazawa, make a stop at the preserved geisha district of Higashi Chaya for a glimpse into historic teahouses which have now been converted into attractive shops and cafes.

Exploring Ishikawa’s capital of Kanazawa, start off with Omicho Market, the ‘kitchen of Kanazawa’ where fresh seafood abounds. Then, visit Kenrokuen, one of the three most beautiful landscape gardens in Japan, and one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom spots. Along with neighbouring Kanazawa Castle Park, which is also home to hundreds of cherry blossom trees, both are must-visit sites in the city for cherry blossom viewing. Stunning in the daytime, the garden and park take on an ethereal feel at night when its clouds of blooming flowers are illuminated.

 

Day 05 (Mon, 05 Apr’27)
Kanazawa – Kaga Onsen

Head down to Kaga Onsen and stop by the Kutani Ceramic Art Village where you can find museums and workshops dedicated to the traditional craft of Kutaniyaki porcelainware. Afterwards, take a stroll through Kakusenkei Gorge to admire its unique bridges and natural beauty before enjoying a dessert of Kaga Parfait, a sweet treat crafted completely from local ingredients, including branded Kaga vegetables. 

 

Day 06 (Tue, 06 Apr’27)
Kaga Onsen – Fukui – Kaga Onsen

Explore the sights of Fukui today, first with a visit to the dramatic cliffs of Tojinbo, basalt rock formations which exist in only three places in the world, battered by relentless waves. Make a stop to admire the Asuwa River cherry blossoms, one of Japan’s top 100 cherry blossom spots with around 600 cherry trees forming a roughly 2km long tunnel of pink blooms. Visit the Megane Museum next to discover the history of Japan’s top spectacle manufacturer, and perhaps pick up some quality frames for yourself. Do not miss the recently revamped Fukui Dinosaur Museum as well, heralded as one of the best dinosaur museums in the world with full dinosaur skeletons, fossils and more on display.

 

Day 07 (Wed, 07 Apr’27)
Kaga Onsen – Komatsu – Haneda – Singapore

Spend your final day enjoying some crafts at Yunokuni no Mori, a collection of workshops showcasing traditional Japanese crafts set in a peaceful forest dotted with photogenic installations. Follow that with a visit to the 1,300-year-old temple, Natadera, to soak in its beauty and spiritual atmosphere before ending your trip with a shopping spree at the largest mall in the region, AEON Mall Shinkomatsu.
