Arriving in Fukuoka this morning, make your first stop Ito Saisai, one of Japan’s top farmer’s markets. Selling fresh produce, meat and seafood along with processed foods, homemade specialties and snacks, this vibrant market is the place to get the best foods from local producers in Itoshima.
Day 02 (Thu, 19 Nov’26)

Take a scenic route today and admire some of the gorgeous coastal sceneries of the area. Cruising along the Ikitsuki Sunset Way, bask in the breath-taking sights of the coastal road considered so beautiful that many commercials have been filmed here. Along the sheer coast you will come across the Shiodawara Cliffs, a section of hexagonal basalt columns thought to resemble Japanese bags of salt.
Day 03 (Fri, 20 Nov’26)

Get up close to the islands dotting the Kujukushima Bay today on the Kujukushima Cruise. Although its name means “99 islands”, there are in fact 208 islands in the bay. The various formations and rock patterns of the islands provide scenic views as you meander round them on a stylish cruise boat.
Sprawling out over 150,000 square metres at the base of Mt Mifune, Mifuneyama Rakuen is a picturesque garden sculpted over 3 years by former ruler of Takeo, Shigeyoshi Nabeshima. The mountain, trees, flowers, pond and tea houses all come together beautifully, like a scene from a Chinese painting, accentuated by bright autumn foliage.
Spend the evening savouring the serenity of Ureshino Yadoya, a tea themed ryokan in the famed beauty hot spring town of Ureshino. Day 04 (Sat, 21 Nov’26)

Dive into nature this morning at Kankyo Geijutsu no Mori, a private forest in the mountains designed for environmental conservation and the enjoyment of nature. Rejuvenate yourself in the tranquil setting as you stroll through the forest, and bask in the brilliant autumn colours of roughly 10,000 maple trees which grow here.
For lunch, try an autumn delicacy, tsugani, a freshwater crab found only in a few places in Japan. Packed with sweet flesh and rich miso, savour the umami of this flavourful crab in a fulfilling meal.
Back at Ureshino Yadoya, take part in a tea ceremony conducted by the ryokan’s tea masters. With a history dating back to the mid-15th century, Ureshino tea is beloved by locals and forms the basis of Yadoya. Learn about Ureshino tea history, culture, brewing and tasting in a refined experience this afternoon.
Day 05 (Sun, 22 Nov’26)

This morning, drop by Unzen Jigoku, sulphurous hot spring ‘hells’ scattered around the sides of Unzen Onsen that are marked by constant clouds of steam billowing above bubbling pools and vents. The hot spring hells were once used to execute Christian rebels after the Shimabara Rebellion, but are now a major attraction and the source of hot spring waters for the many resorts in the town.
Take in the mythical sight of Ouo Shrine’s floating torii gates this afternoon. Dedicated to seafaring and fishery, the shrine is most famous for its three vermillion torii gates which look like they are floating in the sea at high tide.
Pick up some Saga nori from one of the local shops afterwards. Regarded as one of Japan’s top seaweeds, Saga nori is cultivated in the Ariake Sea and boasts a refined taste thanks to the water composition and large tidal difference which allow for superior flavour development.
Day 06 (Mon, 23 Nov’26)
Ureshino – Fukuoka

Admire the gorgeous autumn sceneries at Kunenan this morning. So named as it took nine years to construct, this historic villa and garden is a National Place of Scenic Beauty home to over 100 maples and other flora. Open only for a limited time each autumn, you will have the chance to catch the stunning foliage against the elegant architecture of the villa in this beautifully curated garden.
Feast on local specialty Saga beef for lunch today! The highest quality wagyu raised in Saga, Saga beef is graded according to exceptionally strict standards and features rich marbling and tender meat.
Go persimmon picking later and try some of the seasonal fruit fresh from the tree. Take your pick of the bright orange persimmons from the trees in the farm and bring some home with you too!
Day 07 (Tue, 24 Nov’26)

Spend the day free and easy in Fukuoka City and explore its many wonderful sights! Head up Fukuoka Tower for a panoramic view over the city and bay, stroll through Maizuru and Ohori Parks, go on a shopping spree with a twist at Canal City and explore the heart of the city at Tenjin. In the evening, have a meal at one of the iconic yatai, or the many popular ramen shops which dot the city.
