Okinawa is a subtropical group of islands surrounded by the sea. Landing in Naha today, get a great view of the emerald sea as we drive along the Kaichu Road. A 4.7 kilometre stretch of straight road connecting Yokatsu Peninsula to Hanza Island with water on both sides of it, you will feel like you are gliding over the sea.
 
Later, head up Kouri Ocean Tower, a standout white observation tower on “love island” from which fantastic panoramic views of the blue sea and sky can be seen. Take an automatic cart through a subtropical garden up to the tower, stop by at the seashell museum at its base and most of all, enjoy the wonderful sights at the top.

Day 02 (Mon, 04 Feb’19)

Okinawans are known for their longevity with large numbers of locals living to be over a hundred. In today’s special activity, you will learn a little about the secrets to long life from the locals themselves.
 
Following that, pay a visit to Churaumi Aquarium, regarded as the best aquarium in Japan. Admire Okinawan sea life, including whale sharks, manta rays and other species of fish, in its huge Kuroshio Tank, one of the biggest in the world.
 
Nearby, admire beautiful flowers at the Okinawa International Orchid Show held at the Tropical Dream Center each year. While roughly 2,000 orchids can be seen on normal days, during the show, over 20,000 orchids cover the area, making it one of the world’s biggest orchid shows. Be greeted by the sweet scents and gorgeous displays of flowers as you walk through the attractive greenhouse.
 
Finally, admire Okinawan sea life in its natural setting via a ride on a Glass-bottom Boat. Get up close to the abundant marine life, visible through the glass and clear waters, even as you enjoy the sea breeze and views of the vast Okinawan sea.

Day 03 (Tue, 05 Feb’19)

Take in the spectacular view of grassy fields and the azure East China Sea at Cape Manzamo. ‘Manzamo’ means ‘ten thousand sit field’ and refers to the expanse of grass that is supposedly big enough for ten thousand men to sit on. The cape, however, is more famous for its breath-taking view of clear, blue waters and a rock shaped like an elephant’s trunk.
 
Get more fantastic views of the coast at Cape Zanpa. Also known as the spot where the Americans landed during World War II, this historical cape is home to some of the most picturesque coastal views in Okinawa. Explore the coral rocks by the cliff next to the lighthouse and look down at the clear blue sea below.
 
Okinawan salt contains 21 kinds of minerals and has been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for its mineral richness. At Gala Aoiumi, you will get to see how this salt is made in large quantities at the facility and also take part in a hands-on experience. Make your own sea salt from Okinawan sea water which you can then bring home with you.
 
There are many American military bases located in Okinawa and it is easy to see western influences around the island. At American Village, Americana is especially prevalent with many shops selling American brand clothing and food in the large entertainment complex resembling an American outdoor shopping mall.

Day 04 (Wed, 06 Feb’19)

Get a multitude of experiences at Okinawa World, a museum facility that introduces Okinawan culture and nature. Walk through a labyrinth of Ryukyu limestone at the Gyokusendo Cave, a natural wonder formed over 300,000 years. Step into Kingdom Village, a replica of a traditional Ryukyu village with historical red-roofed houses converted into studios that introduce Okinawan crafts such as fabric weaving, dyeing, paper making, glass blowing and more. Round off your visit with a traditional Eisa Dance Performance and be entertained by dancers carrying drums in this vibrant and heroic traditional Okinawan dance!
 
One of Okinawa’s unique foods is sea grapes, also called ‘green caviar’. It is a kind of seaweed that grows tiny bubbles that pop in your mouth when eaten, making it a fun snack. Go sea grapes picking at a farm today where you can see how they are grown and try harvesting this interesting plant.
 
Make a stop at Shuri Castle, a must-visit when in Okinawa. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was the former centre of government and residence for the rulers of the Ryukyu Kingdom up until Okinawa was made part of Japan in 1879. The iconic red-lacquered castle was originally built in the 1300s but had to be rebuilt multiple times after destruction by war and fires. It now acts as a museum exhibiting the splendour of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

Day 05 (Thu, 07 Feb’19)

Shop to your heart’s content at Okinawa Outlet Mall Ashibinaa. Located near to the capital city of Naha, this large outlet mall houses over 100 local and international brands and is popular with locals and visitors alike.
 
You will have some free and easy time today to explore the city on your own. Take a stroll down Kokusai Street, the main shopping and entertainment street in Naha. Known as “The Miracle Mile”, shops and restaurants line both sides of this covered street selling all kinds of local and imported souvenirs, clothing, food and more. Or walk down the limestone paved road of Tsuboya Yachimun Street, home to dozens of ceramic studios, stores and galleries showcasing pottery by artisans from every part of the island.
