Continue on to the Jiefangbei Central Business District, the commercial heart of Chongqing and one of China’s largest Pedestrian Streets. Centred around the People’s Liberation Monument, the vibrant district is a hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. While here, delve into Hongya Cave, a riverside complex of stilted buildings built in traditional Bayu style. Perched dramatically over the Jialing River, this multi-level maze offers spectacular views, artisan shops, and a wealth of gourmet offerings.
In the afternoon, step back in time at Ciqikou Ancient Town, once a prosperous porcelain hub during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Wander through cobbled lanes lined with temples, tea houses, and varied stores, and sample the region’s bold culinary heritage through the many famed snacks found here.

Start this morning by stepping into the storied past of Chongqing at Eighteen Steps, one of the city’s most iconic old neighbourhoods. Once a bustling residential and commercial hub, this restored area offers a nostalgic glimpse into traditional life with its narrow alleys, stone steps, and charming courtyards. Art installations, heritage shops, and hidden teahouses give the historic lanes new life, blending culture with modern creativity.
Move on to the China Three Gorges Museum, Chongqing’s premier cultural institution. Housed in an architectural landmark, the massive museum showcases the rich history and culture of Chongqing and the Three Gorges area.
Take to the skies afterwards with a ride on the Yangtze River Cableway, one of the few remaining urban aerial cable cars in the world. Glide across the river with panoramic views of Chongqing’s dramatic skyline, bridges, and bustling waterfront for a thrilling way to appreciate the city’s unique topography and urban density.
In the evening, unwind along the riverside promenade at Nanbin Road where beautiful views and a plethora of cultural and entertainment options have made this waterfront a scenic hotspot. Soak in the lively atmosphere at Chaotianmen Square too, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers converge.
